A 10-Part Documentary on The Lives of Real Americans

March 6, 2006

In January of 2006, we received an email from a television station called Alhurra — we'd never heard of this station. As it turns out, Alhurra is a U.S. Government funded station, based on the east coast, that broadcasts into 22 Arabic countries.

Now for a little geography lesson. The 22 countries that AlHurra broadcasts into are:
Afghanistan, Algeria, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Qator, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Yemen

The station was in the midst of producing a 10 part documentary simply called Americans. They chose to profile our family on a show that focused on American finances and the economy. Also included in this one hour show are interviews with former presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush, Sr. as they talk about the generosity of Americans toward Tsunami victims.

Here is a description of the documentary from the Alhurra Web site.

  • Americans
Profiles of men and women who embody the American spirit. This documentary series produced by Alhurra, is a captivating look into the heart of America. Alhurra takes viewers inside the daily lives of Americans and examines their beliefs, their struggles and their perseverance. “Americans” is a look at true America.

    Americans — Finances
Shop ‘til you drop is not just a saying, but a way of life for some people in the U.S. With the increasing usage of credit cards do Americans have a solid financial plan for the future?

Ephrem Kossaify — the news anchor / producer, did a fabulous job with our interviews and was quite intrigued by our “MoneySmart Kids” system. He loved talking to the kids about life and how they managed their money.
